FOR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS
ISI takes the lead again in
introducing the most advanced firefighting technology ever!
When seconds count, information may be the one thing that
can keep you safe. That is why ISI created the new Viking
DXL SCBA. This revolutionary SCBA updates critical information
such as cylinder pressure 100 times per second! And better
yet, with the Viking DXL, this life-saving information remains
within your view at all times, ensuring that you're always
aware of your safety - every second.
Such innovative technology is made possible by the digital
Control Console, which not only monitors cylinder pressure
but also provides a Voice Amplification System as well as
an optional built-in PASS and Radio Interface. This compact
Console was designed to allow optimum mobility for the firefighter
by eliminating bothersome external wires and accessories.
Finally... a completely hands-free method of communications
that doesn't get in the way!
In addition to displaying cylinder pressure and all other
communications information, the Control Console also relays
information to the In-Mask Light Display mounted inside the
facemask. The In-Mask Light Display consists of a waterproof
microphone and five L.E.D. lights. Four of these lights -
two green, one yellow and one red - represent quarter increments
of cylinder pressure and the fifth one (yellow) indicates
a low battery condition.
As cylinder pressure decreases, the lights will shut off one
by one until pressure reaches only 1/4 of rated cylinder pressure.
At this point, the red light will flash rapidly and the "end-of-service"
alarm will activate. These four lights are within your view
at all times and make monitoring easier and more reliable,
helping you to know exactly when to exit an IDLH atmosphere
- with plenty of time to spare.
The Viking DXL is the only SCBA to offer a standard
voice amplification system and these options:
Integrated
PASS Alarm Radio Interface Radio Interface and
PASS Alarm KEVLAR Net Head Harness Tether Style Buddy
Breather System Airline Attachment Nose cup-Mounted Spectacle
Kit Cylinder Durations
from 30 to 60 Minutes
Control Console
The Control Console displays pressure rating, hours of use and
program information for maintenance personnel. The Console houses
life-saving accessories such as a Voice Amplification System
as well as an optional PASS Alarm and Radio Interface. Its compact
design means no more external wires and accessories to interfere
with the firefighter's mobility. Backframe
The lightweight, compartmentalized backframe safely houses the
"end-of-service" alarm and all solid-state components. The First
Stage Regulator is protected inside the backframe and has only
two moving parts! In-Mask Light Display
The In-Mask Light Display provides the wearer with an abundance
of information including cylinder pressure, low battery indication,
activation of the "end-of-service" alarm (rapidly flashing red
light), acknowledgment of radio transmission (green light),
and indication of PASS pre-alarm (red and green light flashing
alternately). Flashing Locator Lights
Flashing Locator Lights are located on each side of the cylinder
and flash constantly while the SCBA is in use, making it easier
to locate firefighters in smoky environments. The lights flash
rapidly when the PASS is in alarm. AirSwitch Facemask
ISI's facemask with AirSwitch Regulator is available in three
face seal sizes. The AirSwitch Regulator allows the wearer to
switch instantly between ambient air and cylinder air.
The VIKING DXL is available in high or low pressure with a range of cylinder types and sizes. For

The VIKING-ST is the
World's first SCBA designed specifically for Law enforcement,
Military and special teams who need protection from I.D.L.H.
Atmospheres (immediately dangerous to life and health) found
at Bomb Sites, Drug Labs, Haz-Mat etc.
The VIKING-ST is not only a reliable, easy to use
SCBA, but the VIKING-ST unit allows hands- free voice
activated communications in a low profile lightweight package.
An in-mask Heads-Up display indicates cylinder pressure, communication
activation and battery status.
The VIKING-ST combines the latest SCBA technology
available and integrates it into one component: the control
console. This console combines into one component what most
manufacturers do with two or three separate components. The
console houses: voice amplification, radio interface and
cylinder pressure.
The ISI Airswitch® facemask is featured on the VIKING-ST
unit. It is the only unit on the market that integrates the
facemask and regulator into one piece. This allows the wearer
to switch instantly from ambient air to cylinder air without
wasting time docking the demand valve. Push down on the
control slide for cylinder air, and push up for ambient air,
it's that simple. This saves on air and can be easily done
with a gloved hand. It's also the only SCBA where the demand
valve and mask can be fully sanitized.
The ISI Airswitch® also has an in-mask light display of cylinder
pressure status and radio transmission visible only to the
wearer. The air pressure "end of service alarm" is a silent
flashing red light inside the facemask instead of the normal
bell and/or whistle audio alarm. Radio transmission is acknowledged
in the in-mask display by a steady green light.
Another feature included with this unit is an earpiece speaker.
This allows wearers to keep in constant contact in quiet tactical
environments. This feature is integrated with your departments
choice of radios and can feature voice activated transmission,
freeing up the wearer's hands.
While wearing a Level "A" hazmat suit, the difficulty of seeing
your pressure gauge and using a radio are solved with the
innovations found on the VIKING-ST such as in-mask
pressure display and voice activated hands free radio..
ISI's technology makes the VIKING-ST easy to operate
while not interfering with the scene at hand with such options
as the silent mode. This mode turns off the flashing indicator
lights and voice amplification, while allowing all radio reception
to be received through the earpiece. The silent mode allows
the user to have a stealth entrance to the scene while remaining
protected from harmful environments. A single push button
returns the SCBA to normal mode. The flashing back frame
lights come back on along with the voice amplifier to announce
your entrance to the scene. Just one more of example of ISI's
innovative technology at work for you.
The VIKING-ST mask is very low profile and fits under
the Med-Eng SR5 bomb suit helmet. Cylinder durations are
available from 30 to 60 minutes, and weights run from 21 lbs
to 32 lbs.

ISI NOW OFFERS TWO THERMAL
IMAGING CAMERAS TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF THE FIRE SERVICE: SURVEYOR
and NAVIGATOR
SURVEYOR
The most sensitive Thermal Imager
available, the SURVEYOR can detect as little as 1/20th
of a degree difference in temperature.
The SURVEYOR is the new version of the popular VISION3.
ISI has added some changes from the original VISION3 design.
A new protective rubber boot protects the front of the camera.
A new case material is easier to clean and a new latch has been
added to the battery case. The camera will accept the
new 2.4GHz two channel transmitter. Internally the SURVEYOR
uses the latest DIGITAL BST electronics from Raytheon and has
a clearer crisper picture.
A new option has been added that is only found on the ISI NAVIGATOR
and SURVEYOR Thermal Imagers. This new option is
POLARITY REVERSAL. This unique option allows the user
to switch from white is hot to black is hot. This can
help see the source of the fire as well as help distinguish
items more clearly in low and high temperatures.
Just like the VISION3, the SURVEYOR is designed to be
hand held directly against the users SCBA visor with no image
distortion and no effect from a smoky environment. Some
cameras have to be held at arms length so as to be able to focus
on the display. When a camera is held at arm's length
in a heavy smoke environment it is difficult if not impossible
to see the screen. Holding the camera up to the visor also reduces
arm fatigue that can set in quickly when cameras have to be
held at arms length.
The SURVEYOR has automatic saturation controls that protect
the sensor core when the camera is subjected to a high heat
source without any deterioration in image.
Cameras with manual aperture/saturation controls require two
hands to operate and will suffer accumulated sensor damage if
the user forgets, or is slow to respond to a high heat source.
The SURVEYOR's automatic saturation feature makes the
camera simple and easy to use and does not rely on the user
making judgment decisions during an emergency situation.
ISI's SURVEYOR has options not found on many thermal
cameras, such as ACCUTEMP. ACCUTEMP is a digital temperature
readout displayed on the screen with a range of -22 degrees
F to 2000 degrees F. Useful for detecting potential
flash-overs, seeking out hot spots and for HazMat applications,
ACCUTEMP is the most popular of all the SURVEYOR's options.
Video Mix is an option only found on the SURVEYOR which
mixes black and white video with the thermal image and is very
useful in locating hot spots and for training.
Two different optional video transmitter/receivers (Single or
Dual channel) can transmit the video signal for viewing on a
remote video display or taping on a VCR. Taping
a fire scene prior to leaving can ensure that there were no
hot spots and help eliminate litigation due to rekindles.
The SURVEYOR operates for up to three hours on a standard camcorder
battery. It can be charged internally or with an external
charger. Two batteries and the charger are included with
each camera.
The Navigator features a new 2 channel optional, field
upgradeable transmitter.
To meet the requests of some fire departments
for a larger viewing screen without losing the unique characteristics
of the SURVEYOR thermal camera ISI has introduced the
NAVIGATOR.
The NAVIGATOR utilizes the same reliable DIGITAL BST
sensor used in the VISION3 and now the SURVEYOR
but is housed in a larger case with a larger LCD screen.
Unlike the SURVEYOR, the NAVIGATOR is designed
to be held at arms length so that two or more fire fighters
can view the screen at the same time.
The NAVIGATOR has the automatic Iris to protect the sensor
in the event of it being subjected to high infrared and also
offers the very popular DIGITAL pyrometer found in the
SURVEYOR.
It is available with a dual channel integrated (but removable)
2 channel transmitter and has internal or external battery charging.
The NAVIGATOR offers two options not found on any other
manufacturers cameras:
REVERSE POLARITY: This option reverses the polarity of
the screen to switch from white is hot to black is hot.
This can allow for better definition in areas where there are
no major temperature differences and where you wish to see what
is burning rather than the flames.
ZOOM LENS: The NAVIGATOR also has a zoom option,
which can cut in half the distance to the object. This
makes for easier viewing of items that are a fair distance away,
or where it may be unsafe to get too close.
ISI offers a range of supplied
air respirators for both hazardous and non-hazardous applications.
ARAP-C shown with AS1 SINGLE supplied air system.
The ARAP-C is a simple, reliable supplied air respirator
for non-hazardous work. Its quick connect demand valve and
comfortable non-fogging mask provides a safe comfortable breathing
environment.
The ARAP-E series of supplied air respirators
with escape for hazardous environments and rescue are available
with 5, 10 or 15 minute interchangeable escape cylinders. For
the fire service they can be supplied with KEVLAR straps and
harnesses.
AIR
SUPPLY SYSTEMS
ISIs most popular
air supply systems is the AS1 Single.
The AS1 SINGLE is a dual cylinder portable air supply
system that can be used with high or low pressure cylinders
and will automatically regulate the cylinder air to that required
by the Supplied Air Respirator. It includes a low bottle alarm
and gauge and a has a second high pressure fitting to accept
a second cylinder allowing for cylinder changes "On the
Fly" without interrupting the air supply to the worker/rescuer.
Up to 4 workers/rescuers can operate from the AS1 - SINGLE.
ISI manufactures the ISI-EEBA
in a number of flow rates and durations. These small lightweight
refillable escape units are for use when in confined spaces
and your gas detector indicates a hazard and it may take some
time to get to a safe area. They are also used for escape
in industrial areas where a spill or leak requires workers
to immediately egress the area. The different flow rates and
volumes are designed where workers may have to climb or run
a distance where they may out-breathe a normal escape pack.
